Mom and baby
Took this just a few minutes ago, virtually out the back door of the condo we’re staying in here in Alamosa. I saw the doe out the back window and wasn’t all that interested but decided to throw my 200 on (200mm zoom lens) and see what I could get. It wasn’t until she started running away that I saw the little fawn start bouncing up above the long grass. So I threw some sandals on and took chase. I was able to move very slowly and sneakily (if that’s a word) and creep behind a big bush to get some better shots. They obviously knew I was there, but seemed ok as long as I didn’t come too close.
Definitely a nice little break from editing wedding photos. A couple more if you click below…

Ga-ross.
Found this little guy in our bike room. I have absolutely no idea what this is. Legs are way too long to be a centipede orĀ millipede, not to mention the fact that it hasĀ antennas. I’m going with “Mutated grasshopper centipede.” Yeah, that sounds about right. Gross.
In an unrelated note, we’re moving.
Walk around the state capital
Here some trivia for you: The 13th step on the west side of the Colorado state capital is exactly 5,280 ft., or exactly one mile, above sea level. They even imprint it with that designation. I spent a little time walking around the state house today snapping some shots. And to make it two days in a row of photos with commonly-seen, usually-annoying animals, I’ve included a photo of a squirrel (follow link below). Enjoy.
Geese: pure evil in feathered form
I’ve never really liked geese. They’re mean, they hiss, and they always scare me more than they seemingly should, considering the fact that they don’t have teeth, claws, or horns. But when I saw a few hanging out in a park I was driving by today, I decided that I would gather my courage and try to make a few photos. This was a particularly aggressive bunch – I believe they are often fed and thus assumed I was there for their benefit. Check out some more photos by clicking below.
