Engagement Shoot on the canal

2011.11.1

Working on the edit for an engagement shoot I shot about a week ago and there just something about this shot I really like. Maybe it’s just that I really like the Cherry Creek trail here in Denver, who knows : )

Lake Champlain

11.8.15

Been working the last couple of days on the edit for my friend Mary’s wedding. It’s funny to go back to photos that you only took a week ago and yet have it feel like so long ago. I think photos of beautiful settings like this will do that. Thank you guys for an awesome, beautiful weekend!

There’s a good chance more photos from this great day will show up on the photo blog soon.

Big Brother strikes again!

11.8.10

Well folks, I don’t know how to break this to you, but you’re reading the blog of a common criminal. Welcome to Denver, a sunny city of granola and bicycles where all seems right with the world. In fact, they want so badly to keep cops off the streets that they have cameras doing their work for them. So when you get one of these fun little notices in the mail for doing 11 mph over the speed limit (down a one-way street with virtually no other traffic around) you can say to yourself, “Well at least I didn’t have to take the time to get pulled over and be late to meet my friends from some quality microbrew.

Leaving Alamosa

11.7.29

Kaitlin and I headed home today after a good month spent in Alamosa, CO. So I thought – to put book ends on the trip – how about a photo of Mt. Blanca on the way out shot with my arm out the window of the car just like I started the month with on the way into town.

Breckenridge Wedding

Finally getting around to posting a few photos from the wedding I shot back in June in Breckenridge. It was a beautiful location with some great people. Click below for many more!

Willow Lake

11.7.19

Took a nice day hike (my first tougher hike since surgery!) up to Willow Lake from Crestone, CO today. It’s the approach trail for the 14ers Challenger Point and Kit Carson. I somehow convinced Kaitlin to jump in the water after I had – she isn’t a cold water swimmer like me. But I think the fact that we had to hike the last couple miles in our rain jackets despite the hot weather due to the mosquitoes probably helped :) Click below for a shot of the lake – it was beautiful.

A better classroom

11.7.13

I’ve decided to try and relearn a little Arabic while I’m down in Alamosa this month. This was my study spot yesterday – right out our back door. I’ve gotta say, for all the good things Ballentine Hall had going for it at IU, I’d much rather learn me some squiggly in this spot any day.

Mom and baby

11.7.6

Took this just a few minutes ago, virtually out the back door of the condo we’re staying in here in Alamosa. I saw the doe out the back window and wasn’t all that interested but decided to throw my 200 on (200mm zoom lens) and see what I could get. It wasn’t until she started running away that I saw the little fawn start bouncing up above the long grass. So I threw some sandals on and took chase. I was able to move very slowly and sneakily (if that’s a word) and creep behind a big bush to get some better shots. They obviously knew I was there, but seemed ok as long as I didn’t come too close.

Definitely a nice little break from editing wedding photos. A couple more if you click below…

On the road to Alamosa

11.7.1

Took this out the window as we were on our way to Alamosa today (if other drivers saw me with a camera to my eye, they would probably do a double take). I chose the aged photo look because driving through these tiny Colorado towns, it’s easy to feel like you’ve been transported back to the 1800s.

On the way to Cali

11.6.24

Took all these on my phone from the plane window on our way to California. Though I didn’t put them in any sort of order, I think it’s cool to see the mountains change into some plains, then the end of the mountains followed closely by the ocean.
